US Forces Struck a 'Large Complex' in Venezuela, Trump Stated Without Providing Details.

Ex-President Trump has asserted that US forces struck a "significant facility" in the South American country recently. But, the former president withheld information about the exact purpose or site of the target, and there has been no additional comment from his administration.

Unspecific Comments Made During a Radio Show

"US forces just knocked out – I'm not sure if you read – they have a large facility, where the vessels originate. The other night, we took it out. So we struck them very hard," Trump reportedly said to Republican donor and businessman John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Possible Significance of a Confirmed Strike

Should a American military action is confirmed, it would mark the first ground target hit since the US Department of Defense initiated a expansion of American military presence in the region to disrupt narco-trafficking operations that the former administration asserts operate under the authority of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

The original mission of the force deployment has since morphed into a quarantine aimed at disrupting the country's crude oil shipments.

Online Video and Administration Statements

Trump has for weeks indicated that American military units are prepared to escalate the operations by hitting targets within Venezuela, a strategy that would theoretically require congressional authorization.

Online video posted on social media on 24 December appeared to show an blast allegedly from an industrial zone in Zulia state. Yet, the footage or the site in question has not been confirmed by third parties.

An official from Trump's team reportedly informed a news network that the president was describing a drug facility in his comments.

Response and Ongoing Military Situation

The Caracas administration has not commented on the event the former president described. Additionally, there have been no independent reports from within the country about it.

The presence of American forces in the area – a stance some have termed a naval quarantine – represents the most expansive maritime enforcement action of the Trump era.

Administration officials have refrained from labeling the action as a full blockade, but have stated that about 15,000 troops are positioned across the Caribbean and the Gulf, including a carrier strike group, F-35 aircraft, and law enforcement vessels to enforce current sanctions.
