Sam Fender has handed over the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound honor cash to the trust for venues, which works to save the United Kingdom's independent music venues.

He was awarded the prize on 16 October as his new release the album was named the outstanding release of the last 12 months.

Fender has decided to donate the funds to the MVT, in recognition of the vital role local spots had in his beginning days.

"I personally would not have achieved my current career if it weren't for all the gigs I performed around the North East, and beyond, when I was just getting going," stated Fender. "These venues are legendary, but they are struggling."

Since the start of 2023, at least 150 of these venues have shut down – about one-sixth of the total UK scene.

In the last year, major artists like Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its initiatives to support the industry, by adding a small levy to their ticket costs, which goes to help independent venues.

He also participated, generating more than £100,000 on his live tour to assist thirty-eight local spots across Britain.

The donation supported venues that were dealing with imminent closure due to issues stemming from flooding, blazes and personal losses, as well as permit problems, court cases and sound issues.

Additional spaces were granted monetary aid in upgrading amenities and gear that directly benefitted performers and audiences.

"The idea that money from concerts in large arenas backs the independent spots, where it begins for artists like me, is just logical," the star has said.

He is among several artists to contribute his honor winnings to worthy causes.

In Pulp won the award in 1996 for their release Different Class, frontman Jarvis Cocker announced that the band would give their winnings to the organization War Child.

During 2002, rapper and singer she shared her bounty between several organizations, such as the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.

"And I donated a £1,000 to my local community centre, to their gymnastics class, because I did gymnastics when I was a child and they needed new equipment," Ms Dynamite explained to outlets.

In recent years, they gave their funds to the community center that developed their act, as well as other local music groups.

Additionally 1994 winners M People contributed their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a close contact was identified with the condition.

"Receiving the award was ample," said singer Heather Small. "The prize was the bonus but we didn't need the extra, because we had the main prize. So our victory impacted the lives of others."

Last week, the MVT shared it had saved several small stages in south-east England, by placing them under public stewardship.

The Joiners in that area and the other in that location were bought under the Own Our Venues scheme, which is supported by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who buy "stakes" in the properties.
